The George M. Curtis Mansion is a historic house built in the 19th century. It is located at 420 5th Avenue South in Clinton, Iowa. This mansion was built for George M. Curtis and Etta Curtis. George Curtis owned a well-known milling business that employed thousands of Clinton families for over one hundred years.

The mansion was built for the Curtis family as a residence, but it was also designed to showcase the wealth and products of the mill owned by George Curtis.

The Curtis mansion is an example of Victorian country house style. The home is 2 and a half stories high, constructed of red brick and various woods to showcase the different styles of wood within one house. There are five porches and multiple roofing types, with stained glass throughout the house.

The Clinton Women’s Club purchased the home in 1925 and has been taking care of the building by preserving features and renovating damaged or unsafe parts of the home

The Curtis Mansion Historical Foundation works with the Clinton Women’s Club to upkeep and repair the Curtis Mansion to preserve the history within so that Clinton can keep this marvelous slice of history alive within the community. The Curtis Mansion Historical Foundation helps to set up events and tours to educate and bring the community of Clinton together in a place with significant historical importance for Clinton, Iowa.
